Casio has just announced a new addition to their Edifice lineup, the TOM’S 50th Anniversary Edition EFS-S641TMS.
This is a tribute to one of Japan’s most iconic racing teams and their legendary TOM’S KP47 Starlet race car, which made waves in the motorsports world with its performances in the 1970s.
TOM’S was established in 1974 and quickly rose to fame with the help of the KP47 Starlet. This little powerhouse claimed 22 pole positions, 20 victories, and three series championships in minor touring races.
The partnership between TOM’S and EDIFICE, which began in 2013, has now culminated in this special edition timepiece.
The watch pays homage to the legendary KP47 Starlet with a dial and leather band loop that mirrors the car’s distinctive white, red, and green livery.
The metal band loop features a tapered shape with two differently sized holes, a nod to the mounting arms of the Starlet’s side mirrors.
The watch face features a pair of inset dials inspired by the TOM’S original Igeta wheels, those sharp, spoke-like designs that allow light to pass through. This is also a functional element that helps power the watch.
A honeycomb pattern at the 3 o’clock position, inspired by the race car’s front grille, is a dual-layer see-through design that even includes a touch of purple, reminiscent of the engine’s cylinder head cover.
Priced at $479, this Casio TOM’S 50th Anniversary Edition limited edition timepiece will be available on Casio’s online store in Singapore starting from 23 August 2024.
