HONOR has launched the new X9e Pro, a mid-range smartphone that leans heavily into durability and endurance.
The headline figure is the 11,000mAh battery. That is considerably larger than the 8,300mAh unit in the previous HONOR X9d and is rated for up to 66.8 hours of video playback or up to three days of typical use on a single charge.
Large batteries usually come with an equally large physical penalty, but the X9e Pro measures 8.08mm thick and weighs 203g.
It also supports 80W wired HONOR SuperCharge and 27W wired reverse charging, which means the phone can top up other compatible devices through a cable.
The other major selling point is durability. HONOR says the X9e Pro uses its Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop Technology 4.0, inspired by the Halo safety structure used in open-wheel racing.
The phone is rated to withstand drops of up to 3m across 10 challenging surfaces, including asphalt, cobblestone and rough granite. It also features 360-degree Dynamic Drop Resistance, with all-angle drops of up to 1.2m and a claimed 82 per cent reduction in the risk of screen damage.
The phone has received SGS Premium Performance 5-Star certification for drop resistance in harsh scenarios, as well as SGS 5 Stars Comprehensive Reliability certification.
Of course, none of this means owners should begin throwing the phone at concrete for sport. But it does give the X9e Pro a stronger safety margin for the sort of accidents that happen without permission.
The X9e Pro also carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. That gives it protection not just from dust and immersion, but also from powerful water jets and high-temperature water.
HONOR says the phone can withstand immersion at depths of up to 10m and has been tested through 100,000 submersion cycles. Its internal sealing system is inspired by submarine architecture, with three layers of protection around areas such as the buttons, speaker, USB-C port and SIM tray.
The X9e Pro uses a 6.8-inch 1.5K display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. HONOR claims peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits, intended to keep the screen legible under intense outdoor lighting.
Photography is handled by a 108MP main camera with CIPA 6.0-level image stabilisation. Underneath, the X9e Pro runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform.
