ASICS has taken the vibrant energy Tokyo is known for and poured it into the TOKYO Collection, a line-up that blends the brand’s latest foam wizardry with refreshed classics.
The core of the collection are two new pinnacle models (MEGABLAST™ and SONICBLAST™) flanked by fan favourites like NOVABLAST™ 5, GEL-KAYANO™ 32, GT-2000™ 14, GEL-NIMBUS™ 27 and GEL-CUMULUS™ 27, each reimagined in city-inspired colourways.
The collection is ASICS’ philosophy made tangible: Anima Sana In Corpore Sano (meaning a sound mind in a sound body) engineered for the run, but designed for how you feel when you run.
The Tech: Bounce That Behaves
FF TURBO™ SQUARED, ASICS’ newest midsole compound, are fitted to these new shoes. Lab tests at the ASICS Institute of Sport Science show it’s approximately 32.5% bouncier than the original FF TURBO™ foam, turning footstrikes into forward motion without the trampoline wobble some super-foams suffer from.
- MEGABLAST™ goes full-length with FF TURBO™ SQUARED for a lively, cushioned ride that still keeps things light. At around 230g (men’s US 9), it pairs that midsole with a lightweight engineered mesh.
- SONICBLAST™ is the speed sibling. It layers FF TURBO™ SQUARED over FF BLAST™ MAX (one of ASICS’ lightest, most energetic foams) for a soft-yet-snappy platform. Sandwiched inside is ASTROPLATE™, a propulsion component that helps you lever off the ground more efficiently. Translation: quicker cadence, cleaner toe-off, more fun when the watch face is glowing red.
The Palette: Wisteria at Dawn, Sunrise at Spee
Tokyo may be steel and glass, but look closer and you’ll find threads of tradition. The collection’s colour story draws on wisteria purple (a nod to grace and hospitality) set against sunrise reds that echo the city’s relentless pace.
There’s also a quiet salute to the National Stadium, host of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025.
