Samsung Launches New microSD P9 Express For Next-gen Gaming

Samsung P9 Express

Built on the SD Express standard (PCIe + NVMe), the Samsung microSD P9 Express is engineered to shift serious data at serious speeds.

Up to 800MB/s sequential reads when paired with an SD Express host. That’s up to four times faster than conventional UHS-I cards, which means less waiting, more playing, and quicker turnarounds for edits and exports.

Samsung is squarely courting two tribes here. First, dedicated console players who juggle chunky installs and DLC on shared machines. The P9 Express arrives in 256GB and 512GB, giving households enough headroom for multiple profiles and a healthy games library. Second, creators who shuttle heavy media between cameras, laptops and desktops and simply cannot spare minutes on transfers.

The card borrows some big-league tricks from Samsung’s SSD playbook. Host Memory Buffer support taps into the host’s RAM for snappier access, while Dynamic Thermal Guard watches temperatures to prevent throttling during long sessions.

The P9 Express packs “6-proof” protection against water immersion, extreme temperatures, X-rays, drops, dust and pressure. Class 10 / V30 and U3 ratings round out the credentials for reliable 4K capture and smooth playback.

To see SD Express speeds, you’ll need a compatible host; on UHS-I-only devices, you’ll be limited to UHS-I performance (up to 90MB/s reads).

In Singapore, both 256GB and 512GB Samsung P9 Express models go on sale from 17 November 2025 via Samsung.com and authorised retailers, at S$89 and S$171 respectively.
