Toys have a superpower that we often overlook – they remind us to dream, explore, and laugh. Food from the Heart’s annual Toy Buffet taps into this magic.
Bringing joy to over 3,000 underprivileged children across Singapore, this event was a truly memorable occasion.
This year’s theme was Monstrous Mayhem: Brave the Unknown!, a whimsical celebration of courage and resilience, held at the Lee Kong Chian Lecture Theatre, Nanyang Technological University.
more than just toys: a monster-sized impact.
The charity drive space was filled with laughter, carnival games, and over 16,000 toys, curated to spread hope and spark imagination. Robin C. Lee, CEO of Food from the Heart, mentioned: “We want these kids to leave not just with toys, but with the belief that a brighter future awaits.”
Adding gravitas to the event was Guest of Honour Ms Sun Xueling, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Social & Family Development, who added: “Toys nourish children’s souls, much like food nourishes our bodies.”
rallying the village.
It’s said that it takes a village, and this event proved just that. The Toy Buffet saw contributions from a lineup of corporate heavyweights like OCBC, LEGO, and Ferrero Asia Pacific, alongside educational powerhouses like Dulwich College and NTU.
Together, they transformed the venue into a wonderland of 25 themed booths.
Beyond the toys and games, Food from the Heart runs impactful initiatives like the School Goodie Bag programme and the Clean Plate Campaign, tackling food insecurity and promoting mindful eating. All of these are stepping stones for a more equitable future.
“By levelling the playing field through resources and opportunities, we hope to build a foundation for a better future,” said Robin, highlighting FFTH’s long-term vision of empowering the next generation.
At its heart, the Toy Buffet is a festival of community spirit. It’s a day when underprivileged children are reminded that they’re not defined by their circumstances but by the dreams they dare to chase.
