Woodleigh’s new mall officially opened on 9 May and its sustainable features and unique landscape serve us the convenience and calming sights it was always envisioned to have – a vibrant, urban oasis.
The Woodleigh Mall, an integrated community and lifestyle hub in Bidadari Estate, opened on 9 May and has since been a delight with exciting retail concepts, dining experiences and edutainment options for the public.
However, beyond the many offerings (we’ll get to that later), Woodleigh Mall’s unique landscape and sustainable structures proves that Singapore is truly living up to its garden city dreams. Especially since it seems that sustainable buildings are popping up not only in the Central Business District and central areas, but in the heartlands too!
an award-winning green shopping mall.
Envisioned to be a vibrant urban oasis, The Woodleigh Mall is an homage to the nature and serene greenery in which it resides. Nestled within distinctive and tranquil green spaces, the mall is directly connected to Bidadari Park – a 10 hectare park that will be ready at the end of 2023 through extensive cycling routes. This seamless blend into nature also includes an offering of 400 bicycle parking lots around the mall, as well as end-of-trip facilities such as lockers and showers!
Not to mention, distinctive leaf motifs are found across the mall’s exterior, and flora has been integrated into the building’s facade, further helping it blend into its natural surroundings. Carbon Dioxide monitoring sensors regulate fresh air, and the mall ensured an active conservation of existing heritage trees throughout the course of construction.
Inside, the building is fitted with energy-efficient lights, cooling towers using NEWater, and Low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) paints, among many other initiatives to keep the place sustainable. Tenants also have to undergo mandatory implementation of Green Leases to ensure that the mall keeps on running sustainably!
In recognition of the mall’s efforts, The Woodleigh Mall has become the proud recipient of the BCA Green Mark Platinum Award, the highest recognition in the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) framework for the assessment of sustainable design, best practices, and operations.
