Snow City to close on 30 September after 26 years

Snow City will close on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, bringing to an end 26 years of operations as Singapore’s first indoor snow centre.

The Science Centre Board said the closure reflects its intention to keep its attractions relevant amid changing visitor interests and a shifting leisure landscape, while continuing to align its offerings with its broader science education mission and future plans.

To mark its final months, Snow City will run a public farewell campaign titled One Last Snowfall from June to September 2026. The campaign is intended as a final invitation for Singaporeans to revisit the attraction and celebrate the role it has played in school trips, family outings and first encounters with snow in the tropics.

As part of the campaign, Snow City will introduce limited-time offers and experiences. One of the headline promotions is a Snow Play package priced at S$19 for adults and S$16 for children, representing a 30 per cent saving from the usual rates of S$27 and S$23 respectively.

The package includes one hour of snow play and a bumper car ride. The Science Centre Board said further details will be released in the coming weeks through the websites and official social media channels of both Snow City and Science Centre Singapore.

Snow City currently employs eight full-time staff, all of whom have been offered redeployment opportunities within the Science Centre Board.

For those who decide to leave, the board said it will provide outplacement assistance and severance support in line with employment terms and prevailing Ministry of Manpower guidelines. Contractual obligations to vendors will also be honoured.

The closure marks the end of a distinctive chapter in Singapore’s attractions landscape. Since opening in 2000, Snow City has served as the country’s first indoor snow centre and, over the years, became a familiar part of many Singaporeans’ memories, particularly through school excursions and family visits.
