Canon launches EOS R6 V with first L-series Power Zoom Lens

Canon has introduced a new content-focused full-frame camera kit in Singapore, comprising the EOS R6 V and the RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ.

The Canon EOS R6 V is a video-optimised variant built on the performance of the EOS R6 Mark III, positioning it squarely at content creators who need a more flexible hybrid setup for both stills and video.

The camera uses a full-frame CMOS sensor with up to 32.5 effective megapixels and supports 7K Open Gate recording, allowing creators to use the full sensor area and giving them more latitude when reframing footage for different platforms, including vertical formats for social media.

The body itself has been adapted with video work in mind. Compared with the EOS R6 Mark III, the EOS R6 V adds a built-in cooling fan and a vertical tripod socket designed for direct mounting without an additional bracket.

Canon says the cooling system allows users to record 7K Open Gate MP4 for roughly three times longer than the EOS R6 Mark III, making the camera more suitable for interviews, live events and extended single takes.

“The EOS R6 V and our first L-series power zoom lens mark an important step in empowering Singapore’s fast-growing community of content creators. By combining professional imaging performance with features designed for real-world and on-the-go production, we are giving creators a comprehensive storytelling toolbox, whether they are seasoned professionals or just beginning their creative journey.”

Too Kok Yong, Head of Singapore Operations Group at Canon Singapore

The new RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ is equally central to the launch, offering a 20-50mm zoom range with a constant f/4 aperture, covering wide-angle environmental shots through to tighter conversational framing.

Its built-in power zoom is designed to deliver smoother zoom transitions, while users can choose between power zoom and conventional manual zoom via a selector switch on the lens.

Zoom speed can be adjusted across 15 levels for both fast and slow zooming, and the lens barrel does not extend during zooming, which means rigs and support systems do not need rebalancing.

The EOS R6 V uses built-in five-axis sensor-shift stabilisation together with Digital Movie IS, coordinated with the lens’s Optical IS. The setup also supports Subject Tracking IS, which adjusts stabilisation according to the subject’s position in frame.

The kit has also been designed with solo creators in mind. The EOS R6 V includes a front recording button and tally lamp, while the lens’s zoom ring is accessible from the front for self-shooting.

Remote control is available through Canon’s Camera Connect app, and Canon is also introducing the Bluetooth-connected Wireless Remote Control BR-E2, which supports both still and video shooting functions.

Although the EOS R6 V is clearly built for video, Canon is also stressing its stills capability. In stills mode, it shares much of the performance of the EOS R6 Mark III and EOS C50, including continuous electronic shutter shooting at up to 40fps.

The 32.5-megapixel sensor provides sufficient detail and dynamic range for cropping and for producing 300 dpi A3-sized prints.
