Life Science Incubator Launches Largest Co-Working Laboratory In Singapore.

Life Science Incubator (LSI) has officially launched its largest co-working laboratory at Elementum, a state-of-the-art life sciences hub in JTC’s one-north business park.

This marks a significant leap forward for Singapore’s biotech and MedTech sectors, reaffirming the nation’s standing as a leading life sciences hub in the Asia-Pacific.

With Singapore’s research and development ecosystem thriving, the demand for top-tier laboratory spaces is at an all-time high. The grand opening, officiated by Senior Minister of State Low Yen Ling, brought together key players from across the industry, from research institutions to accelerators and global investors.

Gone are the days when setting up a biotech startup meant hefty capital investment and long lease commitments. LSI’s latest venture at Elementum will offer plug-and-play lab solutions with a high degree of customisation. The facility caters to companies of all sizes with flexible contracts, dedicated tissue culture rooms, and fully serviced wet lab spaces.

“Our mission at LSI is to remove the barriers that hinder life sciences startups and researchers,” said Zeïna Henni, Director of LSI. “By providing cutting-edge infrastructure, we’re enabling the next wave of medical and biotech innovation to take shape here in Singapore.”

Singapore has cemented itself as the go-to destination for biotech investment in Southeast Asia. In 2024 alone, 14 companies raised S$92.4 million, making it the hottest market for health tech and life sciences startups in the region. The government’s commitment to research and innovation, through the S$28 billion Research, Innovation, and Enterprise 2025 (RIE2025) plan, only strengthens this trajectory.

Add to that Singapore’s world-class regulatory framework and intellectual property protections, and it’s clear why global biotech firms are setting up shop here.

John Ratcliffe, CIO of Altea Investments, highlighted LSI’s role in shaping this future:

“The expansion of LSI at Elementum is a game-changer. This co-working laboratory provides the space and resources needed for startups, researchers, and global firms to fast-track their innovations in biotechnology and medical sciences.”

Beyond offering premium lab infrastructure, the Elementum facility is designed as a hub where ideas can collide and spark innovation. Tenants will have access to a dynamic network of biotech professionals, investors, and researchers, providing them with unparalleled opportunities for collaboration.

With this expansion, Life Science Incubator has tripled its laboratory space, further strengthening its position as Singapore’s leading provider of independent co-working laboratory solutions.

With a firm foothold in Singapore, the company is setting its sights on Australia, a market known for its strong R&D focus and robust clinical trial ecosystem. Having spent three years actively engaging with the Australian life sciences community, LSI is now working closely with local industry players and government agencies to launch its first Australian co-working lab later this year.
