Vivo V40 Lite 5G Review: A Sleek Companion for Everyday Life.

Vivo V40 Lite

The vivo V40 Lite 5G is the younger sibling of the vivo V40 5G, bringing a leaner design and a focus on practicality.

But does it live up to its name as a “Lite” version, or is it simply a lighter contender in a heavyweight fight?

sleek and simple.

At 7.79mm thick, the vivo V40 Lite 5G slips effortlessly into your pocket. The plastic back panel comes with a high-gloss metallic frame that’s elegant but a bit of a fingerprint magnet. Luckily, vivo includes a rubber case to keep scratches at bay.

We were given two review units – one in Silver, and the other draped in a nice Violet hue. The phone’s back houses a dual-camera setup in a distinctive oval island accompanied by an Aura Light.

With an IP64 rating, the V40 Lite 5G offers dust and splash resistance, but don’t push your luck with water adventures. The build is solid, the buttons are well-placed on the right, and the USB-C port and stereo speakers sit snugly at the bottom.

While the speaker placement could have been better (more on that later), the overall construction feels polished and practical.

bright, vivid, and loud.

The 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display is a treat for the eyes. Offering a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,800 nits peak brightness, this screen handles everything from sunny outdoor scrolling to dim-lit binge-watching like a pro.

Colours are vibrant, blacks are satisfyingly deep, and the thin bezels make your content the star of the show.

Now, about those speakers. The dual stereo setup is loud, but the bottom speaker easily overpowers the top. Hold the phone wrong, and you’ll muffle the sound.

a pocket-sized photography star.

If the V40 Lite 5G shines anywhere, it’s in the camera department. The 50MP main sensor teams up with a 2MP depth sensor to deliver crisp, detailed shots.

At the front, a 32MP selfie shooter ensures you’re always Insta-ready.

Portrait mode is where this device truly impresses. The background blur is smooth, and the subject isolation is spot-on, whether it’s a person or your collection of figurines.

Night shots benefit from the Aura Light, which you can tweak for colour temperature. However, in pitch-black conditions, the camera struggles to pull off miracles.

On the downside, video recording is capped at 1080p at 30fps for both front and rear cameras. While stabilization tries its best, you’ll notice some wobbles during movement-heavy captures.

reliable for everyday tasks.

Under the hood, the V40 Lite is powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset paired with an Adreno 613 GPU. Performance is smooth for casual tasks, and even with multiple apps open, the phone handles everything without breaking a sweat.

However, gaming is a mixed bag; more demanding games like Honkai Star Rail show noticeable stutters, even at lower graphics settings.

With up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage, you’ll have plenty of room for multitasking and media. Plus, the Dynamic RAM Expansion feature effectively doubles your RAM, ensuring lag-free daily use.

all-day power with a quick recharge.

Packing a 5,000mAh battery, the V40 Lite 5G comfortably lasts through a full day of social media scrolling, light gaming, and photography.

Charging is just as convenient, with 80W FlashCharge taking the device from 20% to 100% in under an hour. For a mid-range phone, this is an absolute win.

software is smooth but needs refinement.

The phone runs on Funtouch OS 14, based on Android 14. The user interface is clean and responsive, with handy features like Split Screen mode and Game Boost.

That said, bloatware and the occasional ad notifications are distractions. While these can be disabled in settings, their presence feels unnecessary in an otherwise polished experience.

On the bright side, vivo’s photo-editing tools, like AI Erase and AI Photo Enhance, are intuitive and perfect for quick touch-ups.

verdict: great, but manage your expectations.

The vivo V40 Lite 5G starts at SGD $499 for the 12GB+512GB version. At this price, it’s a great option for mobile photography enthusiasts who want a sleek, capable device without breaking the bank.

If you’re into casual gaming or need a reliable daily driver, the V40 Lite 5G delivers. However, if hardcore gaming is your thing, you may want to explore other options.
