Leica Urban Green Timekeepers Bring Urban Nature To The Wrist

Lecia ZM 1 and ZM 2 watch

The new Leica ZM 1 and ZM 2 Urban Green watches do not shout for attention, but rather, reward those who pay attention.

Launched on 28 May 2025, these latest additions to the Leica watch collection are wearable homages to design, heritage, and the poetry of nature, recited in the hushed tones of brushed steel and gradient greens.

Inspired by the gradient of a forest canopy at dusk, the dial transitions from deep moss to a subtle, smoky black. This is a fumé noir finish at its most refined, dressed in rhodium-plated indices and diamond-cut hands that shimmer like sunlight filtering through leaves.

Wrapped in a stainless-steel Milanese mesh strap, the ZM 1 and ZM 2 are rugged, reliable, and resolutely refined. A domed sapphire crystal tops it off, while the satin-brushed case and high-strength aluminium dial feature subtle textural details like satinage vertical grooves, a nod to industrial elegance.

The patented push-crown on both models is a tribute to the shutter release of Leica cameras. A single press halts the movement and resets the seconds hand, offering a new take on time-setting.

The ZM 2 ups the ante with a GMT complication and a day-night indicator, perfect for globetrotters or, at the very least, dreamers of distant time zones.

Both models are powered by a mechanical hand-wound movement developed in-house by Leica, and assembled in Germany.

There’s something poetic about launching these watches during Leica’s centennial year. In 1925, the Leica I changed photography forever. In 2025, the brand continues its journey, from pioneering the 35mm format to defining what a modern mechanical watch could be.

Under the global banner of “100 Years of Leica: Witness to a Century”, the company is celebrating in style, with limited editions, gallery exhibitions, and events from Shanghai to New York.

The ZM 1 and ZM 2 Urban Green are not limited editions per se, but they are limited in another sense, in how few objects in this digital age manage to blend form, function, and feeling quite so seamlessly.

Of course, time isn’t cheap. The ZM 1 Urban Green starts at S$15,300, while the ZM 2 will set you back S$20,850, both inclusive of GST. Available in select Leica Stores worldwide and on the Leica Online Store, these are investments in both horology and heritage.
