Back by popular demand, the much-loved Museum of Ice Cream Ice Cream Making Class returns this June for another round of frosty, hands-on fun.
Running from 2 to 27 June 2025, this sweet experience invites children, parents, and curious adults alike to roll up their sleeves and delve into the chilly, creamy world of ice cream crafting.
Set within the pastel wonderland of MOIC’s Dempsey compound, the 45-minute class is led by the delightfully named “Scoop Professors”. Participants will not only learn how to whip up their very own frozen treat from scratch, but also unearth some sweet trivia behind the world’s most adored dessert.
Did you know, for instance, that the earliest versions of ice cream date back to ancient China, where snow was mixed with milk and rice?
Each session offers the chance to create your own flavour masterpiece, be it indulgent chocolate, sweet strawberry, classic vanilla, or refreshing mint, all crowned with an assortment of toppings that would make even Willy Wonka blush. At the end of it, budding ice cream artisans receive a “Scoop Master” certificate and full access to MOIC’s fantastical exhibits. Yes, unlimited ice cream samples included.
The schedule is as generous as the servings, with four classes happening every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11am, 12.15pm, 2pm, and 3.15pm. Tickets start at $25 online or $29 on-site, with a $60 bundle that includes both the class and general admission.
And if your child’s eyes light up at the word “ice cream”, parents are welcome to join in on the sugary journey. Just be sure to snag a separate admission ticket if you’re planning to explore the museum together post-class.
Beyond just an activity, the workshop is MOIC’s joyful ode to curiosity, creativity, and the simple pleasures of making something with your hands, then promptly eating it. As with all MOIC experiences, it’s play with purpose, offering a unique space for families to reconnect, laugh, and rediscover the magic of dessert.
