VAIO Vision+ 14 Review: Ultralight and Ultra-Impressive.

VAIO Vision+ 14

The VAIO Vision+ 14 portable monitor continues the brand’s tradition of delivering a lightweight, high-quality display solution.

Weighing in at a mere 325 grams (approximately 0.72 pounds), the Vision+ 14 is one of the lightest portable monitors available today. This ultra-lightweight design is achieved through the use of 3D moulded carbon for the back panel, ensuring both durability and minimal heft.

Measuring 3.9 mm at its thinnest point, the monitor’s sleek profile enhances its portability, making it an ideal companion for on-the-go productivity.

The inclusion of a solid metal kickstand adds to its practicality, allowing users to position the monitor with ease without the need for an external case or prop.

However, the monitor does come with a cover stand, which not only protects the screen during transit but also allows for flexible positioning, including stacking above a laptop display for a dual-screen setup.

Complimenting laptops like the VAIO SX14-R, the Vision+ 14 features a 14-inch LCD panel with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, offering sharp and clear visuals. With a brightness rating of 400 nits and wide viewing angles of 178 degrees, the monitor displays consistent image quality across the various lighting conditions we tested.

The anti-glare technology further enhances viewing comfort by minimising reflections, making it comfortable for extended use.

Equipped with dual USB Type-C ports that support Power Delivery (PD) pass-through and DisplayPort Alternate Mode, the Vision+ 14 offers versatile connectivity options.

This setup allows for both power and video transmission through a single cable, reducing clutter and simplifying the user experience. However, the absence of HDMI or DisplayPort inputs may limit compatibility with devices lacking USB-C ports.

Overall, the VAIO Vision+ 14 portable monitor excels in delivering a lightweight, high-quality display solution for users seeking mobility without compromising on-screen performance.

Its thoughtful design, combined with practical features, makes it a valuable addition to the toolkit of modern professionals.
