vivo V50 Review: Portrait Powerhouse.

vivo V50

With the launch of the vivo V50, the brand is doubling down on professional-grade ZEISS portrait capabilities, powerful hardware, and an ultra-slim design that doesn’t compromise battery life.

design & build.

The vivo V50 is a device that catches your eye before you even turn it on. The Quad Curved Screen, nearly invisible bezels, and 41° Golden Curvature frame make it look sleek, futuristic, and incredibly premium.

vivo has put in the work to make sure this phone not only looks good but feels amazing in hand. It’s ultra-light and perfectly comfortable whether you’re scrolling through social media or gaming for hours.

The V50 has a design inspired by nature, with a matte finish that resists fingerprints. And if you’re worried about accidental drops or unexpected splashes, the V50 boasts an IP68 and IP69 rating, meaning it’s dust-tight and can withstand submersion in water.

display.

With a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that stretches edge-to-edge, colours pop, blacks are deep and rich, and the refresh rate intelligently shifts between 1Hz and 120Hz, making everything silky smooth while saving battery life when needed.

The V50’s display is bright enough to be visible under direct sunlight and immersive enough to make videos and games look incredible. Watching YouTube, scrolling through TikTok, or even just reading articles feels premium thanks to vivo’s anti-mistouch technology, which reduces accidental taps, especially important when using a curved screen.

performance.

Under the hood, the vivo V50 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The 12GB of RAM (plus an extra 12GB of extended RAM) ensures snappy performance, while the Snapdragon AI unit optimizes apps and battery life in real-time.

Speaking of battery life, the 6000mAh BlueVolt Battery lasts all day, even with heavy usage. And if you do need to top up, 90W FlashCharge gets you six hours of talk time in just 10 minutes of charging.

cameras.

If you love taking portraits, selfies, or artistic shots, the V50 is a dream come true. It features a 50MP ZEISS All Main Camera setup; the main 50MP sensor is backed by OIS and vivo’s VCS Bionic Spectrum, which mimics the human eye to capture colors and light more accurately.

What really sets the V50 apart is its ZEISS Portrait Mode. With seven different bokeh styles (like ZEISS Biotar Style Bokeh and ZEISS Cinematic Style Bokeh), you can replicate the effects of a DSLR camera right from your phone.

Then there’s AI Aura Light Portrait 2.0, which intelligently adjusts lighting to create soft, studio-quality portraits. If you’ve ever taken a selfie that looked too harsh or washed out, this feature fixes that problem.

For group selfies, the 50MP front camera with a 92° autofocus wide-angle lens ensures that everyone is in focus. vivo’s AI 3D Studio Lighting 2.0 further enhances skin tones and details. Low-light performance is also top-notch, thanks to CIPA 4.0 DSLR-Level Stabilization, which allows for clear night shots without needing a tripod.

And if you’re into videography, the V50 records in ultra-clear 4K with smooth stabilisation and vivid colours.

software.

The V50 runs on vivo’s MagicOS, which is fast, intuitive, and packed with AI-powered features. The phone has features like AI Image Studio, which includes tools like AI Photo Enhance and AI Erase 2.0, letting you remove unwanted objects or even photobombers with a single tap.

Film Camera Mode recreates the textures and colors of vintage film cameras, and Live Photo with ZEISS Border Watermark lets you capture dynamic moments with a stylish, color-adaptive frame.
