DJI Osmo Mobile 7P Review: Fun-sized Powerhouse.

DJI Osmo Mobile 7P

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is a powerhouse designed to bring cinematic-grade footage for casual smartphone videography users.

Whether you’re a content creator, a social media enthusiast, or someone who just wants their travel vlogs to look buttery smooth, DJI has packed this device with enough features to make you wonder how you ever recorded video without it.

built to travel.

At first glance, the Osmo Mobile 7P carries the same sleek, foldable DNA that DJI has mastered over the years. But pick it up, and you’ll feel the refinement.

The compact design ensures it slips easily into a coat pocket or a small bag, making it a hassle-free travel companion. It’s robust without feeling bulky, weighing in at a comfortable 368 grams.

A standout feature is its magnetic phone clamp, which makes mounting and dismounting a breeze. No more fumbling with clips or worrying about whether your phone is secure, this system snaps into place with a satisfying click.

Once attached, the automatic balancing kicks in, ensuring you’re ready to shoot in mere seconds, removing the usual setup frustrations.

DJI has also thrown in a built-in extension rod. This hidden gem allows you to pull off dynamic angles and wider shots without needing an extra tripod or a longer arm.

smart enough to work across apps.

What truly sets the Osmo Mobile 7P apart from its predecessors is the newly introduced Multifunctional Module.

Unlike previous models, which often required DJI’s own Mimo app for intelligent tracking, this new module brings advanced computer vision technology that works across virtually any app.

You could be live streaming, on a video call, or using a third-party camera app, and the gimbal intelligently locks onto your subject, keeping them in frame without requiring manual adjustments.

Gesture controls add another layer of convenience. A simple hand wave can start or stop recording, making solo shooting easier than ever. Gone are the days of awkwardly reaching for the record button and ruining a perfectly framed shot.

Adding to its arsenal of features is an integrated fill light. It offers adjustable color temperatures to match different lighting conditions, ensuring your footage looks polished even in dimly lit environments.

For those serious about audio, DJI has also ensured that the gimbal is compatible with its wireless microphone system.

This is a major plus; by supporting high-quality external audio, the Osmo Mobile 7P ensures your sound is as sharp as your visuals, making it a complete package for content creation.

stabilisation feels like magic.

Thanks to its seventh-generation stabilization technology, the gimbal eliminates shaky footage even in fast-moving scenarios.

The improved ActiveTrack 7.0 system is another reason why footage looks so polished. Unlike earlier versions that could sometimes lose track of fast-moving subjects, this new iteration adapts quickly, recognising people, pets, and even moving vehicles with impressive accuracy.

You don’t need to be a pro to get professional-looking shots, the gimbal does most of the heavy lifting for you.

DJI has also refined the side wheel, which gives creators greater control over zoom and focus. Unlike the digital zoom in most smartphones, which often results in pixelated footage, this manual control allows for smoother, more precise adjustments.

battery life that keeps up with you.

DJI has ensured that the Osmo Mobile 7P doesn’t leave you hanging, offering up to 10 hours of usage under standard conditions. That’s more than enough for a full day of shooting, whether you’re capturing travel footage, recording interviews, or live streaming.

However, if you’re making full use of the Multifunctional Module—particularly the AI tracking and fill light features—the battery life does take a hit, dropping to around 4-5 hours.

While this might sound like a downside, a quick top-up via USB-C can get you back in action, making the battery life more than manageable for most users.

Is it worth it?

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is a thoughtfully designed gimbal that genuinely enhances how you shoot video with your smartphone.

From the effortless mounting system and AI-powered tracking to the silky-smooth stabilization and built-in fill light, every feature feels like it was added with the user in mind.

At SGD$189, it’s an incredible value, offering a near-professional videography experience without the professional price tag.

If you’ve ever struggled with shaky footage, awkward framing, or poor lighting, this gimbal has a solution for all of it.
