The foldable smartphone market has been abuzz with new entrants, but Oppo has taken a bold step forward with the Find N3.
It transitions from its compact predecessors to a full-sized foldable form factor, bringing a host of innovative features to rival the big players, like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.
design and build.
At first glance, the Oppo Find N3 exudes quiet confidence. The device feels polished and sophisticated, with glass panels on the front and back protected by Ceramic Guard for added durability. The aluminium frame, with subtle chamfers, lends the phone a reassuring solidity while maintaining a sleek and premium look.
Measuring (153.4 x 143.1 x 5.8mm) when unfolded, the Find N3 is impressively thin. Weighing 239 grams, it feels substantial without being unwieldy.
The inclusion of an IPX4 splash resistance rating provides some protection against accidental spills or light rain. However, it’s worth noting that competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 offer higher water resistance standards.
The Find N3’s hinge mechanism deserves special mention. Oppo’s engineering team has refined the folding process to near perfection. The hinge is smooth, sturdy, and capable of holding various positions, a feature Oppo dubs “FlexForm Mode.”
It allows the device to double as its own stand for video calls, photos, or even Netflix marathons. The crease on the inner display is practically invisible to the eye and undetectable to the touch, further enhancing its premium appeal.
a feast for the eyes.
The Oppo Find N3 comes equipped with two stunning OLED displays, both of which deliver exceptional visual experiences. The main display is a 7.82-inch foldable LTPO3 OLED panel, offering a crisp resolution and a silky-smooth 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.
With a peak brightness of 2800 nits, even the brightest Singaporean afternoon sunlight can’t dim its brilliance. Watching videos or scrolling through Instagram feels like flipping through a vibrant, high-resolution magazine.
The cover display, at 6.31 inches, is equally impressive. It features the same OLED quality and adaptive refresh rate, ensuring consistency whether the phone is folded or unfolded. The 20:9 aspect ratio makes it feel like a conventional smartphone when closed, making it perfect for one-handed use.
A unique feature of the Find N3 is its S Pen-like functionality for note-taking and sketching. While Oppo doesn’t include a stylus in the box, the display supports precise touch inputs.
powerhouse under the hood.
Under the hood, the Oppo Find N3 is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Paired with up to 16GB of RAM, this device is built to handle anything you throw at it. Multitasking between apps is buttery smooth, and even the most demanding games run without a hitch.
During testing, the Find N3 breezed through tasks like video editing, light gaming, and simultaneous app usage.
camera arsenal.
The Find N3 boasts a triple-camera setup that brings professional-level photography to your pocket. Your main shooter is a 50MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS).
Daytime shots are rich in detail, while night shots leverage advanced processing to reduce noise without sacrificing natural colours.
Next up is the Ultrawide, a 48MP sensor with a 114° field of view that captures landscapes and group shots. The lens maintains edge-to-edge clarity, a rarity even among flagship devices.
Bringing up the rear is the Telephoto, a 32MP telephoto lens that offers 3x optical zoom, perfect for portrait photography and capturing distant subjects without losing quality.
The 20MP internal selfie camera is equally capable, ensuring you look your best on video calls or in selfies, regardless of which screen you use.
The camera software, co-engineered with Hasselblad, elevates the experience with natural colour calibration and pro-level manual controls.
However, in challenging lighting conditions, the cameras occasionally struggle with shadow details, showing the limitations of foldable form factors compared to traditional smartphones.
battery and charging.
With a 4,805mAh battery, the Find N3 comfortably lasts a full day on moderate use. Streaming Netflix, gaming, and working on emails didn’t drain the battery as quickly as expected. For heavier users, Oppo’s 67W fast charging ensures minimal downtime.
In testing, the battery charged from 0% to 58% in just 30 minutes and reached full capacity in under an hour. However, the absence of wireless charging feels like a missed opportunity in a phone of this calibre.
a bold leap forward.
From its nearly crease-free display to its Hasselblad-calibrated cameras and lightning-fast performance, the Oppo Find N3 is a tour de force in innovation.
Premium foldables are here to stay, and phones like the Oppo Find N3 will lead the charge.
