Sony Debuts New 4K Handheld Camcorders.

Named the NXCAM HXR-NX800 and XDCAM PXW-Z200, the new Sony handheld camcorders are set to impress.

Interesting names aside, the two new 4K handheld camcorders pack cutting-edge technology into sleek, portable bodies. For broadcast teams or corporate creators, these models are built to perform with ease.

As with all Sony cameras, video autofocus is definitely one of the best features. With a BIONZ XR image processing engine and a dedicated AI-processing unit, this ensures real-time recognition, tracking, and framing of your subjects.

And, with the ability to shoot in 4K 60p/120p, you’ll be delivering footage that’s razor-sharp.

At the heart of it all is the 1.0-inch-type Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor, Sony’s powerhouse in producing high-sensitivity, low-noise images.

Despite their robust features, both cameras have been designed with portability in mind. Weighing in at around 1.93 kg (4.4 lbs) for the HXR-NX800 and 1.96 kg (4.5 lbs) for the PXW-Z200, these cameras are light enough to carry anywhere.

Both models offer a wide range of recording formats, including XAVC HS, XAVC S, and XAVC SI, and they’re built for multi-camera operations with support for proxy recording and TC/UB recording. The PXW-Z200 also includes SDI support

Both the HXR-NX800 and PXW-Z200 can stream live footage too, via  RTMP/RTMPS or SRT, meaning you can get your content online as it’s happening.

They also support various file transfer options, including HEVC (H.265) and AVC (H.264), ensuring that your files are not just high-quality but also easy to manage.

Both the NXCAM HXR-NX800 and XDCAM PXW-Z200 Sony handheld camcorders will be available through selected retailers and from Sony Electronics Singapore at the end of September 2024.
